Last week Maya Fowler and I launched our new teen titles, Dark Poppy’s Demise and As jy ‘n ster sien verskiet at El Burro in Greenpoint.

The launch was so much more than I could have hoped for. I tend to lean towards the dark side in my novels, so I was absolutely blown away by just how fitting the chosen venue was. El Burro’s blood red walls were accentuated by mirrors, crucifixes and candles, which gave the festivities a gothic flair.

A huge thank you to Verushka from The Book Lounge for being a superb host, and to local gypsy troupe Mr Cat and The Jackal for their fantastic acoustic performance, which included a haunting solo on the musical saw. It added a touch of eeriness to the atmosphere.

Thanks to all who made the trip to support us, our publishers, Leopards Leap, and of course El Burro. I hope the evening was as enjoyable for you as it was magical for us.
