Book trailers are neat little things. They’re like film trailers, except instead of trying to get audiences excited about upcoming films based on novels, they showcase the novels themselves.
For my upcoming book, Dark Poppy’s Demise I called up girl power director extraordinaire, Kirby Kruger, to help me out with a trailer.

Home Away, the collection of twenty-four short stories by twenty-four writers (including myself) has made the Exclusive Books’ Homebrew selection. The announcement came after three very favourable reviews.

Some snippets from my interview with Hunter Kennedy from the launch of Fuse last night.
The original name for the novel was going to be Kaboom, after the Marilyn Manson song of the same name. I wanted a direct reference to the controversial singer but at the last minute decided to change it. I still managed to sneak a reference to him in the book, but you’ll have to read it to find it.

I’ve been so fortunate to have met some of my readers. Last year, some of the grade eleven students of Jan van Riebeeck High put on a stage adaptaption of my first book, The Goblet Club, called Gif. I saw them again at the launch of my second novel.
These kids, Danika, Anushka, and Fanie, now about to finish Matric, invited me to come and see their new play, Die Diensmeisies, which they conceptualised, acted in and directed all by themselves.
I can tell you, it blew me away.

Newspaper headlines are ghastly creatures, particularly when they gleam of sensationalism.
I am a journalist myself, so I know that after completing each article I need to come up with a witty one-liner to sum up what I’ve written. But I am also a reader, and I feel very strongly about certain subjects, as do many other people I know.

Andre Bester’s excellent stage adaption of my novel, The Goblet Club, entitled Gif, was performed last night by the talented students of Jan van Riebeeck High School as part of the Tienertoneelfees at the Klein Libertas Theater in Stellenbosch.
I couldn’t be more proud.

Despite my fervent pleas to the powers that be for time to move slower the launch took place last night at the Neighbourhood Bar in Long street. NB Publishers / Human and Rousseau really went all out on the event and there was a fantastic turnout. I’m not a public speaker by any means so after a week of sheer terror at the prospect of speaking in front of a large crowd I promptly forgot everything that I was going say as soon as my hand clutched the microphone. I know that I said something as people applauded at the end but I’d rather not think about it. I’m sure that I used the word “um” about five times.
